Lugar y fecha de nacimiento. Oliver Platt Actor Education: Tufts University, Medford, MA (drama) This hefty, imposing (6'5), dark-haired character player and second lead of stage and screen is the son of a US diplomat. Platt grew up in the Middle East and Washington, DC. After college, he acted with various regional troupes, as well as New York's Manhattan Punch Line and the comedic Gramm-Rudman Players, which he co-founded. Even after he began getting film work, Platt remained true to the theater, appearing in productions of Ubu Roi, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and The Crucible, among others. Platt made his TV debut with guest spots on The Equalizer (CBS, 1987), División Miami (NBC, 1988), and the short-lived Tattingers (NBC, 1988). To date, Platt's only TV-movie has been the thriller THE INFILTRATOR (HBO, 1995), in which he starred as a journalist who goes undercover to investigate neo-Nazis. Platt entered features with supporting roles in two high profile 1988 productions: Jonathan Demme's CASADA CON LA MAFIA (1988) and Mike Nichols' SECRETARIA EJECUTIVA (1988) (in the former, he was the wisecracking partner of Matthew Modine, while in the latter he was the sexist boss of Melanie Griffith). His first co-starring role was as one of the death-defying students in LINEA MORTAL (1990). Goodbut not star-makingroles followed in RECUERDOS DE HOLLYWOOD (1990), the dog comedy BEETHOVEN (1992), and the sports drama EL GOLPE FINAL (1992). Firmly on the A-list of Hollywood's supporting players, Platt's visibility reached an all-time high in 1993 with appearances as Timothy Hutton's associate in AMBICION FATAL (1993); as Woody Harrelson's slimy lawyer in PROPUESTA INDECENTE (1993); as Aidan Quinn's friend in BENNY & JOON; and as Porthos in LOS TRES MOSQUETEROS (1993). The latter finally gained Platt some credence as an alternative sex symbol. He swashbuckled again as Paul Bunyan in the fantasy TALL TALE: THE UNBELIEVABLE ADVENTURES OF PECOS BILL (1995) and starred as an aspiring stand-up comic in the uneven comedy FUNNY BONES (1995). Platt played a pivotal role as a weapons designer assisting in the rescue of a hijacked plane in the thriller MOMENTO CRITICO (1995) and has a supporting role in the courtroom drama, TIEMPO DE MATAR (1996). He made his producing debut on the indie BIG NIGHT (1996), which was co-directed by actors Stanley Tucci and Campbell Scott.
