Lugar y fecha de nacimiento. Peter Horton (1953 - ) Actor, director Born: August 20, 1953, Bellevue, WA Education: Redwood High School; Principia College; University of California, Santa Barbara (music composition) Tall and thin, with strawberry blond hair and a killer smile, Horton is perhaps best-known as Professor Gary Shepherd on Thirtysomething (ABC, 1987-91). But, while he liked acting, he yearned to direct and, after helming episodes of Thirtysomething y The Wonder Years (ABC, 1989) and directing several pilots which became series, he made his feature film directing debut with a segment of the anthology film AMAZON WOMEN ON THE MOON (1987). In 1995, Horton directed his first full-length feature THE CURE (1995), the story of two boys, one with AIDS, who set out to find a cure for the disease. Horton had actually started out wanting to be a music conductor (something he has since had the chance to do) but acting called when he graduated from college. His first major exposure came with an episode of The White Shadow (CBS, 1979), in which he played a basketball player suspected of being gay, and the TV-movie mystery SHE'S DRESSED TO KILL (NBC, 1979). As his career in Hollywood began to escalate, Horton married starlet Michelle Pfeiffer in 1981. (They divorced in 1988). Her big screen career began to escalate at the same time his small screen one did. His first regular TV role was on the series Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (CBS, 1982). He was given the opportunity to make his directorial debut with the ABC Afterschool Special about drunk driving called ONE TOO MANY when he met the network's condition that Pfeiffer and their friend Mare Winningham play major roles. He continued to work behind the camera, helming the pilots of Class of '96 (Fox, 1993) and Birdland (ABC, 1994). Horton made his feature acting debut in FUNDIDO EN NEGRO (1980) in which Dennis Christopher played a psycho who dresses as movie villains to murder his enemies. Among Horton's other acting credits are Stephen King COSECHA NEGRA (1984), about a couple (Horton and Linda Hamilton) who discover a juvenile cult in Iowa, SIDE OUT (1990), in which he played a volleyball star, and VIDA DE SOLTEROS (1992). John Landis gave Horton his first shot at directing with a segment of the anthology film AMAZON WOMEN ON THE MOON (1987). His segment, Two I. D.'s, co-starred Rosanna Arquettee y Steve Guttenberg while Horton co-starred with Michelle Pfeiffer in a Landis-directed segment entitled The Hospital. After a lengthy search, he found the right feature to make his debut with THE CURE, made with a $9 million budget, but from a script which had been purchased for $1 million. Although the film received warm reviews, it did little box office despite Horton's personal appearances on talk shows. While looking for his next feature, Horton acted in former thirtysomething castmate Melanie Mayron directorial debut, EL CLUB DE LAS BABYSITTERS (1995).
