USA (1916 - ). Director norteamericano nacido el 8 de Diciembre de 1916 en Brooklyn, Nueva York. Su padre era el famoso dibujante y realizador de cine de animación Max Fleischer, creador de Popeye y Betty Boop. Comenzó en la RKO como documentalista, dirigiendo su primer largometraje en 1946. Alternó todo tipo de géneros, desde westerns (Bandido), filmes policíacos (Sábado trágico) y aventuras fantásticas. Veteran director with a knack for action and suspense; his THE NARROW MARGIN (1952) is regarded by many critics as one of the finest films noirs ever made. A rapid, efficient director who has often filmed real life crime stories such as THE GIRL IN THE RED VELVET SWING (1955), COMPULSION (1959), THE BOSTON STRANGLER (1968) and 10 RILLINGTON PLACE (1970), Fleischer has also helmed such big-budget epics and extravaganzas as THE VIKINGS (1958), DOCTOR DOLITTLE (1967) and the disastrous TORA! TORA! TORA! (1970) as well as the contemptible MANDINGO (1975).
