Richard Boone (1916 - 1981) Actor Born: June 18, 1916, Los Ángeles, CA Died: 1981 He attended Stanford University and was a member of its boxing team before being expelled from the school for a minor offense. He worked for a while in the oil fields of Southern California, then embarked unsuccessfully on careers as a prizefighter, a painter, and a short-story writer. After four years of World War II Navy service as a gunner, he prepared for the stage at New York's Actors Studio on the GI Bill and in 1947 made his Broadway debut in Judith Anderson Medea (1947). In 1951 he made his motion picture debut in Lewis Milestone's THE HALLS OF MONTEZUMA (1951). Boone went on to appear in many films, typically as a tough guy, whether good or bad. Craggy-faced and menacingly lean, he was equally effective as a formidable heavy or a masterful good guy. He owed much of his popularity to television, on which he starred in such shows as Medic, Have Gun Will Travel y The Richard Boone Show. In 1968 he ventured into film production with KONA COAST (1968), in which he also starred.
